There was not a single example I could find on File-reference- uploading files on server using JAVA. One was there using the orally libraries but could not get the download for the same. Oh, we did so much of research and finally Bhavesh came and wrote the JAVA code using studs in 2 hrs and it just worked like charm with flash file-reference.

Another good learning; in terms of not to get it done but how you manage to get it done.

Learn many new things - FLV issue on FTP (server 2003 needs special setting to be done) - audio/video issues with firewall, flash garbage collections – deleting objects- Event Listeners issues with dynamic, static classes and many many new stuff…

The more I know the more I feel there is yet so much to know. I got an opportunity to have bit hands on flex 2 as well, Apollo.. However didn’t get a chance to work on live project. Would look forward for the same...

Flash-Director project was good. The other project was only flashed based. Equation Editor- MathML support, Oh!! We could have done it if it was suppose to be new project, we just extended old project so didn’t find it right to disturb the main skeleton. Other project currently involved with is the Flash- timeline animations- lots of audio-video. Crunch timeline but still enjoyed last minutes changes and tight deadlines. Feels satisfied when client was happy with it…

Yes in the End what matters is the Satisfaction that you could do and do the best :)

hummm ..one more new thing tried and work fine. Flash 8 Xtras in director. I made project on Windows then published it for win and mac both!! Now time to test on MAC. God, what the hack on Mac; cant see the flash 8 content. Downloaded latest director authoring for MAC from, here. Published it from MAC; still no luck; what was wrong?

Thanks to Arijit De, he helped me out. We download latest shockwave from the same URL. Need to download (English Macintosh Developer Update (DMG, 19.3 MB) ) for MAC. It has updated Flash Asset Xtras on MAC, copied them into my project Xtras folder and it worked like charm :)..Finally was able to see Flash 8 content :)......

I am working now on CD based product. Getting good exposure to all kind of problems one can face. I am quite happy as I could resolved them, not easily but wasn’t that difficult…

hmmm... macromedia local content updater. Meant for CD based product, where flash 8 security pop up should not disturb and file can communicate to files placed locally as well as on network...

Well, working on the new project. CDROM based project. Many must have done so many times but for me completely new, where front end is flash backend is JAVA (socket or web service still to decide) and firebird database.

Initial days, was so worried about creating installer, java connectivity, MAC and PC Compactable + it can be standalone or Client Server; But with in 2 weeks I m comfortable with it. A spec is almost frozen and about to start the Architect Design for it. The project also include Sales demo for which will be using Flash + Director so kind of all stuff I m doing for the first time. Looking forward to work for it….

I have been looking for this Feature from quite a few time but never got time to do research on it. Finally, have been assigned to Project, which need Screen Capture (or say movieclip capture) to be saved as JPG.

There were many options, like use Flash and director, flash and php and so forth… My project is going to be in flash and Java. Just for this feature, didn’t feel like making Cocktail of technologies. Hence, started R&D. God!! didn’t find single tutorial on net for Flash Bitmapdata getting saved as JPG with JAVA. Left with no choice then developing it and after 3 days I could see something working. This might not be the correct way but it confirmed me that its possible.. (i touched java after 6 years) ..Relaxed.. :) You can download source code from here.

how to run?

1. Complie the java file.
2. Publish flash.
3. First run java file then once socket is ON run flash exe
4. click on capture and png file is ready :)
